BEEF QUALITY ASSURANCE (BQA)
BQA Mission: “To maximize consumer confidence and acceptance of beef by focusing producers’ attention to daily production practices that influence the safety, wholesomeness and quality of beef and beef products.”
U.S. and international consumers expect safe, quality beef. Nebraska beef producers work to provide this expectation through programs like the industry’s Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program.
By participating in the Nebraska Beef Quality Assurance program and adopting BQA production practices, you are positioning your business to take advantage of opportunities that lie ahead. Making a commitment to BQA isn’t just the right thing to do for the consumer, is can also open doors to new marketing opportunities for participating producers.
The Nebraska BQA program is funded, in part, with Nebraska Beef Council (NBC) Board of Directors. Each year NBC Board sets priorities and creates a marketing plan. BQA meets the industry information priority because it strengthens cooperation within all industry segments to increase trust, dialogue and educational opportunities for the benefit of the beef industry’s vision in meeting consumer needs.
NBC encourages all producers to attend a BQA program or event in their area. To find out when the next program is scheduled or to request one in your area contact:
- Bonita Lederer, Director of Producer Education, at 402.450.0223
Certification fee is $20 per producer. Certification is good for two years. Producer must contact a BQA trainer at the end of the first year to keep certification valid. A reminder card will be sent from Nebraska Cattlemen.
