Top Hand Club Members Showcased at Convention
By Melody Benjamin
The Nebraska Cattlemen annual convention is always hectic, trying to cover so much business crammed into two days and nights. With so much to accomplish, it is tough to find time to say thanks to those who donate their time to our association; however we did honor our Top Hand Club.
To become a Top Hand Club member, an NC member must recruit at least three new members for a minimum of $300 in dues dollars. The recruiting Top Hand member then receives 3 percent of those dues dollars as a “cash-back” reward. Some members are in the club year after year, but this membership year saw some new faces. It was great to be able to acknowledge their membership work.
The 21 members who qualified for the Top Hand Club this year were called forward during the Trade Show Reception to receive their cash-back checks. They were responsible for gathering 217 new members. That’s 43 percent of the total new members for the year! Nearly $35,000 in dues was collected from those 217 members. These recruiters needed to hear the members’ appreciation.
Jay Wolf and Scott Reynolds donated their cash-back checks, which combined was more than $500, to the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Excellence Fund. We appreciate their kind gifts.
After Membership Committee chairman Scott Reynolds recognized the Top Hand Club, he was recognized by President Pete McClymont for his aggressive membership work. “Scott has been an outstanding Membership chairman,” McClymont said. “He can be pushy, but he gets results.”
My hat is off to the Top Hand Club members. NC membership is the foundation of our organization. It is a strong membership that commands the respect of our elected officials. I encourage you to become a Top Hand Club member so you can be in the spotlight at the next annual convention.
