National Cattlemen 2007 Industry Convention
Nebraska Goes to Nashville
Nebraska cattle producers and feeders were over 250 strong at the recent Cattle Industry/National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Annual Convention in Nashville, Tenn. Nebraska Cattlemen was very well represented in areas of issues management, committees, policy and just having fun.
Nebraska had panel members in three of the five issues forums that covered the topics of National Animal ID (NC past president Allen Bright), Bio-Energy’s Impact on the Beef Industry (NC President Jay Wolf) and Foot and Mouth Disease (NC Marketing & Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Baxter). In addition, Craig Utter, Cozad, was elected to the Beef Board Operating Committee.
Nebraska Cattlemen hosted an NC Caucus to firm up and organize policy positions prior to the regional caucuses and membership meetings. The caucus, revived after several years of dormancy, was an excellent format for all Nebraska attendees to get in on policy development or modification.
The highlight for many was the Nebraska reception where, amidst a standing-room-only crowd and plenty of Husker Red, old and new friends gathered simply to enjoy the evening. Nebraska Cattlemen looks for another strong contention at next year’s NCBA convention in Reno.
